Steel Storage Europe gain ISO 9001 Accreditation
March 2009 - Steel Storage Europe are proud to announce that they have been awarded ISO 9001 quality accreditation from the British Accreditation Bureau for the design, manufacture, supply and installation of self storage solutions.
The decision to undertake the process of ISO accreditation was made as part of the organization’s ongoing quality management program. Steel Storage have invested heavily to improve the quality of their products and services since the 1990’s when it opened in Twickenham, London.
As the self storage industry grows, the demand for high quality self storage systems has increased and Steel Storage hope that by achieving the ISO standard, they have raised the bar within the industry across Europe and other continents. “Steel Storage prides itself in leading the European industry and it is our hope that this step change in quality assurance will be copied by our competitors”, said Managing Director, Colin Jeromson. “As long as other companies do not just try to get the badge, the benefits for the European Industry will be obvious in years to come. To our knowledge, we are the first global company, outside of the USA, in the industry to get this accreditation.”
In order to begin the process of ISO accreditation, Steel Storage worked alongside Nick Maurice Jones from the British Accreditation Bureau to document the company’s internal procedures and quality systems. Nick had the following to say about working with Steel Storage; “We were highly impressed by the professional and dedicated approach taken by Steel Storage Europe in undertaking the ISO certification process. It was clear from day one that this was taken very seriously by the entire company and we were delighted to award the Steel Storage team with this prestigious standard.” Following an external audit by a member of the Bureau, Steel Storage were notified of its accreditation in time to make the announcement at the European self storage’s annual conference and trade show in Dublin, March 2009.
Colin Jeromson worked closely with his team to achieve this quality standard. “Some people look at ISO as just a badge but in Steel Storage we are proud that we have done this properly and used it to improve quality across our whole organisation. We have been working seriously on this since May 2008 and actively with the British Accreditation Bureau since July 2008.”
In times of economic instability, self storage operators are seeking security of suppliers that guarantee to fulfill contracts and who meet agreed opening dates – it is clear that Steel Storage, having invested heavily in new machinery and quality systems, is a permanent fixture in the self storage industry.
The awarding of this accolade to Steel Storage has been a significant milestone within its quality assurance program. So confident is the company in its ability to manufacture, design and install a world class self storage facility, Colin had this offer to make to his customer base; “The quality of our products and services is equal in priority to Health & Safety in our organisation and as such if any of our customers have an issue with our products or services I would encourage them to contact me personally.”
